Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. We only require you to credit our technology with a link to the tabcat website.
Is the data 100% accurate?
The Royal Mail's expensive PAF (Postcode Address File) isn't completely accurate. Our solution gets it right the vast majority of the time and it does fail gracefully if need be i.e. it will always try and give the user something like the town and county. It is very accurate though. Try it
Do I just link my code to your demo script?
No! There are IP based usage restrictions on the demo. You will be give your own licence key to access another script with no restrictions.
I'm not technical, can I just use it?
Yes, we can easily sort something out for you like the demo on the home page.
How do I use it?
Your developer will likely want to perform a GET request on your unique service URL with the house number and postcode as parameters. The script will reply with JSON data containing the address results. You can then manipulate the results however you want.
Can your web service give results in XML?
We're pretty sure we can do whatever you want as long as it's standard stuff.
Are you going to charge for usage soon?
That is not the plan. Really. If we have to charge then it competes with PAF based solutions.
